Hello,
I have Segate Barracuda 7200 hard drive...
When I turn on my computer,
it stucks in the BIOS screen.
Also, when I press del it won't go to the BIOS settings.
When I take out the hard drive and turn on the computer
the BIOS goes smooth until it gets to a message saying
it cannot boot.
I must say the hard drive worked just fine a couple of days ago.
I tried using other cables - didn't worked.
I replaced the BIOS battery - didn't worked either.
what could be the problem?
Thanks anyway

Does the drive show in the BIOS setup, that will tell you if it's faulty, sounds like it could be to me.

first, thanks for your help..
Unfortunatly, I can't get into the BIOS settings.
It's stuck, and when I press del nothing happens.
Are these the symptoms of boot-sector virus?
What else could it be?

I doubt this is a virus, sounds like a text book faulty drive.

If you press the correct key, you WILL be able to get into the BIOS.

That is one way of confirming the drive condition.

You could also try the drive in another machine.

FYI Seagate are notoriously bad drives. Get something decent like Western Digital or Samsung if you replace it.
