i just upgraded my whole system and wanted to add my old harddrive to new system to back up files then just junk old drive(old pc would not power up) but it booted up from the old hard drive(running win 98) instead of new the new one(running xp)
it did a whole bunch of driver updates then rebooted ........now it keeps rebooting and saying it has to reboot with a od error
i then unhooked old drive and tryed to reboot using new drive
but it will not even boot up now it just says ....verifiying files...
i went into bios to change boot order but still not booting up........
anyway i can fix this without reformatting and reinstalling windows
i dont have any original drivers with the pc

    any help would be apprieciated
    thank you

oviusly the old harddrive u installed wos set to master and as a result booted from that...
if it wos me id set ur new harddrive to master and your old one to slave.set up bios to boot from your new harddrive..if still nothing i would just re install XP..if your pockets cant stretch to xp disks
then a quik search on bit torent is your anser

it sound to me that somewere along the lines your xp has been curupted

id say the same as pete21...however if your going to use two hard drives as oposed to one, firstly ure going to have to think about using some kind of program to mirror the hardrives against each other. also if your old hardrive still has win98 installed on it this will cause problems with your new operaing system... but yes i would also sugegst that u change the new hardrive to master and the old to slave.
as for the prgramme for mirroring your hardrives i would suggest a raid tool..
    hope this helps.
