| I have a 250 GB SATA drive on my PC and recently bought a new 400 GB Seagate IDE hard drive to add to my system. However although my BIOS says the 400GB IDE drive is attached, and I can select it or the SATA Maxtor drive as a boot option in the bios Windows does not recognise it nor install to it. Even if I use Windows XP64 which is installed on the SATA it does not show my 400 GB hard drive. Does anyone have any ideas as to what may be wrong, please? Technical details: Bios: American Megatrends Bios version 775i65 BIOS P2.70 Bios microcode update: 0F64 / 04 Primary IDE master: 400.1 GB Seagate IDE HDD Secondary IDE master: DVD drive (Atapi) SATA 1: no drive installed SATA 2: Maxtor 250 GB SATA HDD I really hope someone here can help as this is really frustrating. Any help appreciated! |

| Hi Have you tried looking at the storage device in Computer Management. It sounds like the drive is not formatted, if this is the case windows will not show it in My Computer until it is formated. You can do this from within Computer Management in Administrative Tools. I hope this helps. Many Thanks Leo |
