Hi, this is not a serious problem but it's bugging me as it is a daily thing.

I have a USB 1GB memory stick which I use to transfer data from my XP computer which is connected to the internet to my Vista pc which isn't internet connected.

When I plug my memory stick into my Vista pc, nothing happens and I cannot access it at all. But if I restart the computer and plug it in again it comes up fine. So every time I want to use it I have to restart the pc. And every time I restart the pc my detached gadgets from my Sidebar disappear!

Any ideas how to fix these things please?

A well designed system shouldn't make a lot of noise when you plug something in, with popups and whatnot. Are you sure it isn't just accepting the drive without a message? Does it not appear at all in your list of drives?

No, it is not listed under drives/removable storage until after I have restarted my pc each time.

Go into my computer and click options and enable removable disks.

Thanks, computer lover786. But could you be a little more specific?

There is no 'options' under Computer or anything to 'enable removable disks'. I've also checked under the computer 'properties' and in the Control Panel and under Device Manager, cannot find anything at all to enable it.
