I have two hard drives in my pc, a 40Gb designated C which contains everything (OS - Win98SE plus data) and a second 40Gb partitioned as D, E and F. I want to install XP on this second drive (after unpartitioning it) and so have bought another (refurbished) 40Gb drive to back up the contents of C in case it all goes t*ts up. I have fdisk'd, formatted and scandisk'd this new drive and no problems encountered until I reboot the computer when I get

"an exception OE has occurred at 0028:C007001 in VxD VNETBIOS(01) + 000009B1. This was called from 0028:C0245C5D5 in VxD VMM(13) + 000005D5. It may be possible to continue. Press any key".

Pressing the enter key does in fact result in the completion of the boot and it all seems to ackle OK. When I replace the original 2nd hard drive (D,E,F) I don't get the error message. Any ideas what is going on?
