Smile WD Passport 120gb Help

Quick update for you all - Western Digital agreed a warrenty exchange (unit is 5 mths old) but wanted credit card details for a $170 deposit on me returning faulty item, plus I was told to use DHL or a similar courier. Phoned arround & best price for a return to their service dept. in Germany was £30...(a new unit is now £55) On the off chance, I e-mailed Amazon (who I bought it from) last Friday, a quick reply and phone conversation resulted in an offer to send out a new unit which arrived this morning!! I've to send back the faulty unit but postage will be a lot less... Oh, and I'll keep a back up this time.... Thanks Amazon...:)

Default WD Passport 120gb Help

They are good aren't they Andy. I use them primarily for dvd's and suchlike but I did buy my Passport from them also. Have to remember what you've put should I get any problems.

Thanks for letting us know.:)

Default WD Passport 120gb Help

Wierd that happend to me too, I went to boot it up and the usual icon is not there, it instead turned into a "local drive I:" icon. When i click on it, it says the drive is not formatted but give me an option to do so (which will delete all the data). I have the 80 gb hard drive. Its not working on my laptop or my desktop. I dont want to lose all my songs:(( any suggestions on how to retrieve data?

Chances are the drive crashed.

In future please start you own topic.

And welcome to the forums. :)

Default WD Passport 120gb Help

as of just today, no computers around my house have been able to read the hard drive. it makes me sad because it's gonna take MONTHS to replace everything that's gonna be gone if I can't recover it.

Default WD Passport 120gb Help

Hi everyone, just joined. I was searching for help as my Passport seems to have died on me....same thing as Andy....seems to be making several fairly high pitched buzzing noises and then stops...PC recognises there is something there but doesn't load as usual. I am very worried as I have a lot of data on it....do you think it will be recoverable?

I only bought this around 8 months ago :/

Amy
