Hello,

I bought and installed a new 500 gb hard disk day before which started working perfectly fine. The system already had a 160 gb sata disk and a two 40 gb disk. I moved all the files from the old disks to the new 500 gb yesterday.

The 500 gb was partiontioned into four logical drives. One with 250 gb, 100 gb and two 50 gb. The problem started when i removed my old drives today and tried to install fresh copy of win xp (no sp) . Even while it started the installation it failed to detect the 500 GB hd. It only showed it as 130 gb hdd which needs to be formatted. So I had to refix the old 40 gb hd and complete the installation.

Once installed, i was able to see only a 128 gb unformatted drive on my comp except for the old 40 gb drives volumes. Once I installed sp2 and viewed the drives using Windows disk manaagement, I was able to see full 500 gb hd but again with 128 gb unformatted. The actuall partition was not there.

After going through the post here, I scanned it using the exact instructions as its listed on the sticky post. But the scan was able to find only ONE logical drive which is 250 gb. The rest of THREE logical drives 100, 50 and 50 are MISSING.

I have even tried deeper searching, it doesn help. I'm really in need of some way to recover the data as I had formatted my old drives.

What could be the reason for other three logical partitions to go missing ?

Currently i haven proceeded with the writing option in testdrive. I have been running stellar phoneix for windows past 12 hours to see what raw data it can recover. The scan so far which has finished 50% shows NO sign of the datas on the other three logical drive partitions (100, 50, 50 gb). It only shows the datas on the one 250 gb partition.

So to sum it up,

ORIGINAL PARTITION

250 gb - media files )had 70 percent files

100 GB - had no files

50 GB - had 80 percent files

50 GB - no files

CURRENT DETECTION AFTER USING TESTDISK (Have only scanned, haven written the structure yet)

250 GB (Looks like all data one this are available)

remaining three are missing.

PLEASE HELP. How do I recover the three other lost partitions.

Should i try recovering data from the old hard disk? the problem is, as soon as i completed copying data to the new harddisk yesterday, i completely re paritioned the hardidsks into one partition, and formatted it. What are the chanes of data recovery from the old HDD?
