why has my computer suddenly stopped... Check the ide cable is still connected correctly, if so try another cable. Also check the power cables are seated correctly.
If that doesn't work rollback the drivers for both using device manager. If you don't have a driver to rollback to delete the drivers, reboot and let windows recognise the cd and dvd again.
But i'm leaning toward either the ide or power cables as its 2 separate units.
