Default Can anyone tell me why in winxp home my sound drivers...

...have been entered and say the card is working but isnt? I have checked this from the bios to the speakers and all is saying i's working however on the properties within device manager the listing says the devices have been enabled but not started ? help tried everthing even reinstallingThe card was working fine before I reinstalled xp due to a spyware my firewall missed ...Thanks folks 1 dont really want to format again 400gb takes along time thanks anyhow... 2/ john tried that no devices listed although system says they are there.. ? 3/ yes thet are win xp latest drivers no conflicts system says its working but its not ? cheers allsorry mrreaser done that still no go this is a swine and the sound board checks out ok too not faulty ? system says the card is working ...?

Mine does this. Try to update the drivers. If that doesn't work, as sometimes mine doesn't. I reformat again and it picks up.

go into control panel, then sound and audio device, then under sound playback, pick the hardware you just installed from the drop down box. Like EG "creative SB live" is the one i have.

Are you using sound drivers that come with XP? If so, try getting the system/sound card manufacturer's drivers and install them instead. If you are already using those then you must have a conflict somewhere between the devices. Not able to give advice on that because you haven't provided enough info.

Are you saying the driver working properly and everything is installed but no sounds coming out from the speaker? If yes, try this : Control panel - Speech -Text to speech-Preview Voice. Make sure your speaker is on. if no sound coming out even if "Microsoft Sam" is speaking, it's the speaker's problem. Hope this help.
