Hi Everyone

I am new to the forum and this is my 1st posting.

There was a probelm installing hardware

First, Welcome!

OK, the first step is to check if any drivers are missing.

Left click on Start.
Find My Computer and right click on it
A menu will appear. Left click Manage
In the window that appears, Left click Device Manager

Look for any entries with a big yellow exclamation through them. You can report these back here if you see any. Otherwise:

Right click any of these and select (ie, left click) Update Driver

Now what you do next depends on whether a "driver disk" was supplied with the PC. If it was, stick it into the cd/dvd drive.

On the Update Driver dialogue, choose automatic update and follow through any dialogues. If any warnings about unsigned drivers appear ignore the warnings.

Over to you.

OK, can you download one/both of the programs on

http://www.nvidia.com/object/wdm_drivers.html

and run them and see if this helps?

Depending on what hardware you have, you may need

http://www.nvidia.com/object/wdm_geforce_4.13.html

instead, but note the warning to install Forceware first. This is available on the same site.

Hi,

I am also haveing a similar problem although it is not with sound. when trying to read a memory card (M2) the computer does not recognise it and explorer freezes on tryin to open the SD drive. i went looking for the problem in device manager and found that the same problem (microsoft wpd filesystem volume driver error 10) was there.
i have been searching for an answer to this probem but i have found no luck.

Can't help here, but note that code 10 is not a specific error code, it's more like just saying "something's wrong with a device". Unlikely that one solution will fit all.
