Default Computer speakers crackling/crackle

It just started. I cleaned the CDR,DVD lenses. It's the same. Any ideas on the cause? Whether or not there's anything playing, there is static. other speakers don't do it.

Your speakers are probably blown. It's not a big deal. You can buy replacement speakers from Walmart, Circuit City, etc for alot less than you would think.

The mechanical connections can produce this. Follow the suggestions about cleaning the plug. For internal connections, contact cleaner sprayed according to directions on the can using those little red straws that are provided to reach inside.Do the volume and balance controls as well as any other switches or faders that are part of your sound system.A five ounce can of contact cleaner cost me $4.99 at Micro Center and has cleared up several problems for me. I don't think I've used a half ounce yet. It saved me a video switcher that would have cost me $35 to replace.
