You will probably have to go into your Bios and select "onboard sound"

What's the motherboard (or the computer make and model)?

What's the soundcard?

Whose operating system are you using? Does it have a version number or installed service pack?

Where did you get the drivers that are failing to recognize the card? Do they have a name or release level?

I have had this problem in the past. What you need to do is manually install the driver using device manager instead of using the application installation. follow my guide and you should have your sound back soon

-Go to start>control panel and click systems. Go to the hardware tab and click device manager. Look for the device you want to update the driver for and double click it. Go to the driver tab and click on update driver.

-A screen will pop up like in the automatic install. Select "install for a list or specific location" this time and click next. Uncheck "search removable media" and check "include this location in search". Click the browse button and go to the directory where you saved your new driver. (if its on CD just search removable media and it will find it).

-Click next and it will attempt to install the driver. Once done click next and your new driver is install. A reboot might be required for the device to work properly.

It would have been nice to have this info on your other thread unknown PCI Device... - Computer Juice - Forums#post67481 m8 if you had combined both bits of info then the problem would have been seen quicker and dealt with a lot easier

Typical Bill and his boys... Everything was working fine with SP2, but then they had to go a step further and cock it all up with SP3. Don't you just love Microsoft?

Cheers:
Chris.
