Point taken... Maybe contact Thermaltake and see if they will supply the socket/board that goes in the front of the case, then it probably just plugs into a mobo socket.

Where do the cables going to the headphone socket go? do they plug directly into the motherboard, or are they jacks that go out of the back of the case, and into the sound card/built in sound sockets?

All the sockets on the top have I THINK 4 pin small connectors on which plug into the mobo - might be 3 or 2. There is a seperate one for MIC, PHONES, each of the USB 2.0 sockets and the 6-pin firewire.

Thermaltake usually use good quality sockets, it may be worth getting to the sockets solder joints and re-soldering them. :)

i would of said interfearence, everything produces it, first make sure ur audio wires inside your case are away from the HDD and are also away from the PSU, move them if you can as far away from these 2 main sources of interfearence if you can, and try again, and if you can hear it more when you turn them up, then i wouldnt say it was the jack or anything that has been said before.

my advice.

Doesn't sound like interference to me, sounds more like a connection has come loose, so like Rik said, it would be a good idea to take a torch into the case and view the solderings to check they are still secure.

It would be best to re-solder, a cracked solder joint can sometimes be extremely hard to see and is the most common type of problem.:)

If I have time I shall pop the side panel off and have anosey in there today.I can't move the cable too far from the PSU, becusae as they are on the top (around the middle), the wires come out from the top fairly near the PSU. They then go down behind the metal chasis and pop out at the bottom near the sockets on the MOBO.

Cheers

Tom
