I have Creative 5.1 speaker set up. I just noticed the other day that only the front right and left speakers are working with media.

Creative media comes with a settings tab which can play a womans voice saying 'front left, front right, centre, back left and back right' which comes from each respective speaker. So, because of this I know that the speakers all work, just not with any media. I thought it may just be windows media player but it also doesnt work with VLC or creatives own media player.

Ive uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers many times to no avail. I noticed that the driver is unsigned but read somewhere that many drivers dont get microsoft to sign therir drives cause it costs too much money.

If anyone can help me with this I would be very grateful. It's driving me crazy - I've tried everything!!

Thanks in advance

You 5.1 is working fine but there is a problem with player which support stereo and mono only not 5.1 so some time such types of problems persists. so try to configure your player Audio setting as Dolby or 5 channel whatever there are..

Check that you have your speakers plugged in properly, also in Sound properties check that the audio output is 5.1 not stereo.

If you are using Vista and a creative sound card, ignore what everybody else has said. Creative labs made a decision to NOT have their sound cards work in Vista. They will NOT write drivers that make all the features work. 5.1 sound is one of the features they have chosen to not make work with Vista. The CMSS is another. Get another sound card, or live without what you paid your hard earned money for. Those are your choices. Nothing anyone here wil tell you will make creative work with Vista and 5.1 sound unless they direct youto a link that has DanielK written drivers on it.
