Hi I have just bought a new LCD Sony KDL-32V4000 and connected my laptop to it which works fantastic. I was told by PC world to get a HDMI cable or something like that.

Sorry as I am new to this and have never done this before. Please can somebody help to advise which cable I need and also where I put it in . i. e. from pc to which port in the tv.
Thank you for your time

Your laptop will have an audio out or headphone out, a small jack plug.

You need a lead with that plug and whatever sockets your LCD has, probably phono.

This:

If your LCD has these?

What Laptop have you got ? ... an HDMI Cable is capable of carrying both Video and Audio, but you need to have an HDMI socket on both the Laptop and the TV.

An HDMI socket looks like this :

Hi again. I have a laptop My laptop is Dell Inspiron 6400. I am pretty much sure it does not have the HDMI Cable. Sorry I tried to google this and emailed Dell to make sure but they were not helpfull. . I intend to order this cable via Amazon or Ebay. Do you know the name for this wire at all I should search for and buy so ?I can connect via phono I think.

The reason I said the mini jack to phono is I doubt many laptops have HDMI, hardly any TVs have it yet.

Just go with the mini jack to phono for sound.

No the Dell Inspiron 6400 doesn't have an HDMI socket, so Dave's lead is the only option for you.
