I have been using my laptop to play music by connecting one of its USB ports to my hi-fi with a Toslink optical cord. It sort of worked OK but jitter spoiled the quality and I have been seeking an improvement.
So just recently I bought a docking station, which, according to the laptop's online manual, allows S/PDIF out of its digital RCA socket. I have been trying all day to make this thing work and have been rewarded with not a peep. My efforts have succeeded only in silencing the USB/Toslink. I can hear music when I plug earphones into the headphone socket, and the wire to the hi-fi works fine when plugged into a different digital source. I assume, therefore, that it's a software problem but don't know what to do to activate the socket. What do I have to do? Joe |

I'm sorry. 'Update it maybe?' is a bit too cryptic for me. I have found a site http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport...ID=1093#113165 which appears to have all the updates, and I downloaded three bits of software I thought might help. But no joy.
Could you expand, please? Joe |
