I am having major problems with my sound (using a sound blaster audigy), so I hope one of you guys will be able to give me some help.

My sound used to be completely sporadic. At random times, the sound would shut off entirely, and I'd be unable to resolve the issue until I tinkered around with it by reinstalling drivers, restarting my computer a few times, ect. At this point, my sound doesn't seem to want to come back at all. The Creative Diagnostics have me passing will flying colors, but I am still unable to hear any sound. Something really strange is that when trying to view youtube, or any other type of videos, my browser will kind of freeze up for like 7 seconds, and when it starts, the video won’t play longer than 2 seconds without stopping. It’s ridiculous.

In addition to that, I have this creepy "decompression bomb" thing going on with my computer. I don't know if it's relevant, but this is what avast! picked up :

I'm ready and willing to answer any questions or specify on any subjects to better explain my problem. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Go HERE and install one of the K-Lite Codec packs and see if that helps.

I gave it a shot, and I don't think it helped at all. Good idea though.

I do have this little problem...

Please, if you have any, ANY other ideas.

Right click the Audio Device and choose update driver.

If that doesn't work right click it and choose uninstall.

Restart the computer and Windows will reinstall it.

I've tried both- updating doesn't bring up any windows, and when I try to install it says it failed because the device may be required to boot up the computer. :-/

Try this and see if it finds any updates for you.

Cool website, it found Adobe Reader, QuickTime, iTunes, Adobe Flash Player, and Sun Java JRE updates... Would any of those be useful..?

I don't think so but it can't hurt.

You need to figure out how to reinstall or update the audio driver.

Download Everest and see if you can identify the model # or something and visit the makers web site to look for what needs to be done to get it reinstalled.

This might sound stupid, but the yellow (!) is a out of date driver as you know of course. Have you tried uninstalling all of the drivers and the sound completely and getting reinstalling totally. If this does not work have you tried a system reboot? Maybe you fiddled with some settings or another programe setting it causing the problem here.

Sorry I don't know much just trying to help =].
