Default i want quality not quantity...

I have Logitech Z series 5.1 surround sound, with a giant Subwoofer and I am using Winamp. I notice that i get more noise and bass then actual good quality sound. I put my bass on minumum yet i can only hear bass and its ugly at times. is there some sort of equalizer setting i can put that makes the quality better or a software that enhances my sound quality?

there may be some sound drivers around for your sound card that may help you fine tune things.

winamp also has it's own equalizer and turning that on and fine tuning it will also improve things major league. i attached a file that shows the equalizer i use for all my media players. it gives, in my opinion, the best sound quality. it doesn't cut out the bass, but it doesn't blast it either.

i can't use those because at any setting higher than what i have, my subwoofer starts making some hardcore like...clunking sounds is the best way to describe it. the bass is literally outputting so hard it makes the entire thing go clunk at...for example the beat of the bass drum in any given song.

in that sense it's somewhat subjective, in terms of what sound system you have and what settings you like best. for my sound system, and my ear, that's what i like. plus it's easy on my woofer. what's great for me, isn't necessarily great for you.

despite the tedious nature of it, the main point here is to mess with that equalizer despite what it entails because leaving it at a flat setting makes you miss out on a lot of the little details that your speaker system was designed to bring out in the first place. i was bored one day, so i sat there and messed with each individual button and saw what it did to the sound. it wasn't long before i figured out that left side was bass, right side was treble, and in the middle was some of the voice and midrange stuff. which makes sense if you think about it.

it looks harder than it is in that sense. i wish they would TELL you what setting brings out what so you can easily create your own. all i can really say is use what works best for you, and use what you just learned to make the best one you can, and keep it at that setting forever. the one i gave you came out after months of trial and error to see what setting worked best for all the songs i could ever listen to.
