Hi, Im completely new to diagnosing issues with my comp and hoping someone here can help. The issue I have is that the onboard sound has decided it wants to play both channels on both sides simultaneously, meaning that when I turn the balance to the left side, it plays the left side through both speakers, and vice versa, which when listened to with the balance set in the middle, one side is cancelling out the other, which as you would guess makes the sound sound like crap. I have re installed the newest driver and have gone through the process of ruling out external amps and speakers as the problem, it definately is an issue in the computer itself. As far as I can see, there are no hardware or driver conflicts. The mobo is a d915gag, it has a pentium 4 3ghz processor with a nvidia 8600gt and 1 g of ram. The driver is realtek 5.10.0.5377, codec is ALC860.

Ok I would go to control panel sounds, and then now I would set everything to default in the sound config, as it sounds to me as there is a confilcation in the config of the audio on your computer. Let me no if this sort its best luck rob.
