I've been at war with myself over buying one of these. Not if but which one would I get. I lost the war in my head and was going to get a 160GB then instead got the 32GB iPod touch.

To put it simply, WOW! It's a pretty amazing little gadget.

Holds up to 7,000 songs/Up to 40 hours of video (like I'll ever get that many songs/pictures.

Audio playback
Up to 30 hours

Video playback
Up to 6 hours

Built in Wi-Fi plus much more.

I was looking at a touch but I always end up running out of space on such things and went with the Classic 120Gb (Cheaper than the same model with 80gb of space..). Needless to say I was chuffed because about 3 days after I got it I caught the screen with my key..

Apparently, Apple/iTunes only allows you to put 1,000 songs on your iPod.

I had to use another music player to go over the 1,000 limit.

I assume you're on the iPhone or iPod touch? I've got 1254 songs on my classic and it's fine and dandy..

I love mine too, a first gen but personally, I prefer the flat back and the black surround.

Just a shame I don't have bluetooth.

*Face palm* Reading's a lovely thing to do..

Why put a 1000 song limit on a device made to play music?

And why make iPods have a piano black or chrome finish? They suck your fingerprints off from across the room..

I read somewhere that they put a limit on it because they were fearful more would impact performance on the iPhone. But the iPod seems to have the same limit so I'm not sure what's going on.

It's called the Apple Tactic. They make a product then limit it in some fashion so you'll buy the next product hoping it's better

Actually I'm thinking now that it's iTunes that has the limit. I can easily get more music on it with MediaMonkey but I can't import more than 1000 songs onto the iTunes library.

Someone else said that also. It must just be me. But how did I get this limit? I've looked through all of the settings!

Google says something about boosting the iPhone limit to 1000 using magic and witchcraft..

The limit for your model should be 3500 songs, not 1000.. You got the latest firmware etc for it?

I'd have some words with Apple, see what they say. It might be a botched firmware job.

Try resetting it through iTunes?

No way!

I've done that twice when I first got it. I have too much stuff and don't want to risk having to re-download everything.

MediaMonkey works just fine and let's you do mure with your library than iTunes does. I think I'll just leave it as a mystery for now.

Fair enough. Should ring up Apple for a fight anyway, keep the customer services busy haha

This is stupid...

Yesterday there were 1003 songs imported now there are 1005 imported. I haven't tried to import any at all since I last posted...

If it weren't for my applications I would stop opening iTunes altogether.

If you have the option to back up before syncing enabled an your syncing everything, apps all in tow, you will have no problem with this.

It'll put everything back on, you won't have to download a thing. If you're syncing apps then they even go to the exact same place you put them before the sync. (ie. they won't rearrange in alphanumerical or anything)
