| Hi there, I have a strange problem with my audio...... Mainboard has a 'Realtek 7.1 HD' audio device, with used to work fine, but suddenly the right channel stopped working. my speakers only input with a single jack, aka 2 channel, so the rest of the plugs on the back are disabled. ive found though, that if i turn the realtek software onto 4 channel or higher, and use one of the other plugs it get a output on both channels, but stil only the right channel on my main output plug (green). i have discovered aswell, that the headphone port on the front of my machine works on both channels, it plugs directly into a header on the board, which works of the same chip. ive downloaded the latest drivers, as well as uninstalling all software and realtek sound devices in device manager, and rebooted to let windows find it and reinstall. no change. have run out of ideas now, and a quick google didnt yeild anything..... any ideas?? n sorry if i went on a bit ![]() Last edited by mctw : 29th Aug 2008 at 10:57 AM. |

| It sounds like this may be a hardware issue ... i.e. a faulty jack socket on the mobo.

If so, there's not much you can do other than install a PCI Sound Card or new mobo, unless of course you are competent in elecronics and are able to replace the socket. My System: Home Build

| It a lot less hassle to buy a £10 sound card then to do any soldering.

| Yep ... I agree with Dave. A cheap PCI soundcard is the best option, as you could easily damage the mobo trying to desolder the old and resolder the new .... this could end up costly'

| It probably is, but by the time you've paid the return p+p and waited weeks, the sond card will probably work out cheaper
