I am new to the forum, so first of all, I would like to say hello.

My problem is that two days ago, my audio stopped working. I have tried everything that I could think of. I reinstalled my drivers, messed around with all of my audio settings.

I havn't installed anything, or done any changes recently to make this happen.

I have a feeling its a hardware problem, and I will need to buy a sound card. I am currently using on-board sound.

I reinstalled my OS, vista Ultimate 32bit just now, and there was no sound with default sound drivers or the on-board sound driver (C-Media 6501)

My motherboard:
-Asus M2N-E SLI NVIDIA nForce 500 SLI MCP Chipset DDR2/800 SATA RAID PCI-Express MBoard w/GbLAN,IEEE1394,USB2.0,&7.1Audio

Any help you have to offer will be much appreciated guys and gals.

Have you checked that your speaker system is working with another (different) input ?

Also any yellow exclamation marks in Device Manager ?

Yes, I have tried this, and there are no "!" it says the device is working properly. I think that I am just going to purchase a sound card. Thanks for the help :)

I tried multiple speakers, and headphones on all audio ports. What do you think the problem is, if you say that buying a sound card will not help.

If it's on board sound, it's possible that this has developed a fault and stopped functioning.
If this is the case, a new PCI Sound Card should work fine.
I blew the on board sound on a mobo a year or so back, by simply unplugging the speakers, whilst the PC was powered up, so it's not hard to blow them.
