I have never seen this sort of problem. I put my sound card in one of the pci-e lanes on my motherboard and my computer wont boot from the hdd. any ideas? its a via envy24 5.1 surround sound card if that helps.

Have you disabled/removed any other sound card drivers that may be conflicting with the installation of this one?

Did you follow the manufacturer's instructions for adding your new sound card?

It is a PCI-e card? From what I see on the net its just a PCI card, you have it in the wrong slot?
