| Please help me... Last week, while I'm surfing the net I've noticed that my PC have no sounds. I've checked the Control Panel-> Sounds and Audio devices but it says that there was "No Audio Device". I also try to see if the Volume Control is working, but it isnt. When I'm trying to access the Volume Control an error prompt tells me that: Quote:
When I tried to access the Device Manager, it only shows these devices under Sound, Video and Game Controllers: (None of them have apostrophe or any error signs on them) -Audio Codecs -Audio Codecs -Legacy Audio Drivers -Legacy Video Capture Devices -Media Control Devices -Video Codecs Ive tried installing the driver in the first three devices in safe mode but it's still not working. Some remedies that I have already made are as follows: 1. Restore PC using System Restore. -> Doesnt work 2. Install driver in safe mode. -> Doesnt work 3. Update driver automatically. -> Doesnt work 4. Scan PC using updated Kaspersky IS 2009. -> Nothing detected. 5. Scan PC using updated Ad-Aware and Spyware Doctor. -> Nothing detected. 6. Checked Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Services. -> Windows Audio is "Started" and on "Automatic". And on Recovery Tab I put the first, second and subsequent failure in "Restart the Service" Please help me, this error is driving me mad. I cant play my MP3s and NBA games on my PC. Thank you! |

| Why install the driver in safe mode? What happens when you install the driver not in safe mode?

| Thanks for your reply Mr. Dave... As stated above there's 2 "Audio Codecs" listed in Device Manager. And Im trying to install the driver in those Devices. When I tried to install the driver in non-safe mode device manager, the computer restarts itself without any prompt, but still nothings changed it still have no sounds. When in safe mode, it installs in device manager. Then the usual question after installing drivers appears: If I want to restart my PC. So I clicked Yes. But after the reboot, still there's no CMI8738 listed in the Device Manager and my sounds' still doesnt work. |

| You cannot install a driver in safe mode, download the driver from your soundcard or motherboard makers website and install it in normal mode. |

| The problem is, Mr. Dave, is that C-Media has closed its official driver download site http://www.cmedia.com.tw/?q=en/driver_tmp. Ive already gone to other driver download sites and C-Media Forums and got the latest driver but I cant install it... The driver cant detect my Hardware... And when I insist on installing the driver, the Windows prompt me that the driver is not compatible and not recommended for the hardware... and when I continue to install it, my PC just restart on its own without any notice... But my problem is still unsolved... |
