So finally pinpointing the problem I see that when I install the RealTek HD sound drivers for my Gigabyte ga-ep45-ur3d rev 1.1 mother board it causes the computer to not recognize my external firewire drive/the firewire port on start up.
If I disable the realtek device the computer recognizes the drive fine on start up. I would just install the driver at all - but then I can not use my extra front pannel firewire port. Any ideas? Using winxp sp3 Bios version f5 on the gigabyte mother board Need any other info? thanks |

Wow that's crazy. Why or how would a sound driver affect a firewire port? I don't doubt you, it's just crazy lol. What's on your firewire drive?

Could be an IRQ conflict, I think. Check to see what IRQ assignment is given to each device, make sure they don't overlap. Otherwise, I'm stumped.
