HIGHLY unlikely.Use a program like everest (by lavalys) to determine the exact type of sound card you have. they also provide links to manufacturers for drivers if ya need.

Yes, it's possible--not exactly the hardware itself though. The issue is whether or not a driver exists that will allow you to use it with windows XP. Chances are, if the card is less than 5 years old, it will work with XP. To be sure, go to the manufacturer's website (if you can), and look up your device to see if there is a windows xp driver available. You can also just google the device name with something like "xp driver" and see if anything comes up.

try using the device manger in the control panel, it should search for drivers automatically and install them. if not the manufacturers site or download.com will probably have them available.

To save the bother of searching for drivers on the manufacturer's website or download.com, I would first try Windows Update. However Windows Update may not find it.

Note: Windows update will only work if you copy of Windows XP is legitimate.

If this doesn't work, search the manufacturer's website

You could look at the model number of the card, and type "[manufacturer] [model] drivers" on google

I have used this method many times when I haven't been able to find them elsewhere, and it's never failed for me.
