Hello! The sound on my computer has gone. I was thinking of perhaps getting rid of SoundMax and then doing a system restore to get it back pre-sound-loss. But for some reason, it won't allow me to remove it - a message comes up saying 'Set.up.exe has encountered a problem'. I successfully removed some other stuff, so I'm assuming it's a prob with SoundMax itself? Before the sound loss, something weird happened - the computer didn't power up for ages, and when I finally managed to get it work, a sign appeared saying 'other users are logged into your computer'. I've never seen that before. If anyone could help me, it would be great! Thanks for your time! Zakia x

Hey 4D, Thanks for replying. It is nasty! I miss my music : ( But yes, I did try doing a system restore. It doesn't seem to make any difference. Maybe the laptop has a virus or something? If you have any other tips, I'd be grateful : ) Zakia

| Ok, it could be a driver problem so you could try downloading drivers, or a later version, I don't know what version you're running?

Well, I'm not sure how to do this. My version of windows doesn't appear to be verified (I inherited the computer from a friend), so downloading drivers might be difficult? I've got version 5.0 of SoundMax. I managed to uninstall it by going into device manager and then did a system restore, assuming that it would bring back an uncorrupted version of SoundMax but no dice! Where would I get drivers from please? Thanks again!

Hello Thanks - sound has come back...I pressed a mute button on the actual laptop itself, when it had problems powering up. It seems ridiculous that in the sound advice it doesn't suggest checking the actual laptop. Anyway, thank you again! Zakia x
