Running Windows XP.
Compaq Desktop SR1226NX

Problem.
I have plugged in a turntable into a pre-amp for converting analog to digital.
(Using a DAK device). The input to line-in has separate data for left and right channels, but it gets mixed when it goes through the audio "line in" on rear of computer. The sound is excellent, but the channels are no longer separated.

Is this a driver problem, a sound card problem, or what ? I can hear and record stereo from files or from computer installed CD and DVD player.

I've attempted to change sound card settings, but to no avail. Downloaded newer AC97 driver off Compaq support website. Didn't help.

Any ideas ?

Thanks, Steve
