| Recently I've bought my new PC and it has an onboard soundcard, a Realtek one. I also have a Creative Isnpire 5700 System and I'm not able to make'em work properly. :sigh: I mean that I bough a coaxial RCA wire to take advantage of the digital coaxial input the speaker system has, but I only have stereo output. It should be working perfectly, but I don't have digital 5.1 sound, only stereo. :upset: I suppose i also can use the optical input of the inspire 5700 system but, damn! Thank you in advance :) (and excuse me for my bad English ) |

| Use the Optical if you have it, it's the highest quality.

The S/P-DIF is good, but inferior to Fibre Optics. But here are instructions for your S/P-DIF in the mean-time, or if you don't want to use Optical. Install the Realtek Driver ad Utilities, then Reboot. Right Click the Red Speaker ico in the system tray. Choose sound manager. Now follow the next steps according to your OS:For XP: Click Audio I/O Click the drop dwn in the top left.Choose 6CH. Now click the spanner to the right of the word "DIGITAL" (Middle right) Select 48KHz Select Output Digital Audio Source For Vista or Win7: Click Speakers Click the drop down Select 5.1 Surround Sound Click the Digital Output (RCA) tab Check that there is volume and settings are to your desire etc. Note: I can't really be as specific with Vista, because it's a much more comprehensive utility that Realtek provide, depends much more on our exact setup, and how you want it to perform. | He'll have 5.1 (digital) surround only when his soundcard supports Dolby Digital Live. He can use AC3 Filter Dolby Digital coding also, but AC3 Filter works only with multimedia files like mp3, avi, rmvb, flac etc... |

If I install the same driver and utility pack on XP and Vista I get a totally different application - the two I gave instructions for. I had to download it in the end anyway (for Windows 7, mobo disc wouldn't work) I can try and find a link for you, see if that has more options? Edit: Try Here - I think this was it, I have the file saved, I just can't exactly remember where I found it ![]() s (For Bubba, a944porsche - it's not something you need to download ) |
