Default Recording sound

hey, I don't know if this has been here before, since I just joined here, but I'll ask it anyway.
I want to record the sound that's playing on a certain website, I tried Audacity, windows sound recorder, numerous other freeware programs...
but none of them worked: after i 'recorded' what i wanted, the saved file only contains silence. This is getting very frustrating
Can anybody here help me, please?

Oh yea, I do not have a microphone, but I don't know if that is relevant

Thanks for the help, but Fraps only records in games (atleast mine does )
I found what was wrong, now i can record, but when I record something now, the quality is very low, as if there are tons of dust in my speakers (sorry, can't find better words to describe it)
