Hi, I have a Asus P5KC and Im trying to install the sound card. I'm not sure where to connect all the wires to the motherboard. Theres no indication on the MoBo itself or the user manual...can anyone point me in the right direction?

Many thanks in advance

Doug

If it is a stand alone card then it will just slot in a PCI slot.

If it is an add-on board for the on-board sound it will be in the manual.

Hi Dave, thanks for the reply. The only reason I ask is that the card has 3 wires coming from it. I took it from my old system but in my excitement at the new build and haste, I didnt notice if it was plugged into anything in my old MoBo!!

I'm sorry, I know its not a very intelligent thread, but appreciate your time none the less!

Sound cards do not need any other connections to work, some have a cable that goes from the card to the back of the CD rom drive to transfer audio from CDs to the card but apart from that, nothing.

Dave's right, Also my college teacher once told me if it fits then it fits... he was referring to the molex connectors but you get what i mean, can your old system boot? if so why not try re installing the sound card back into your old system and take a note of where the wires go, if your new system doesn't have anywhere where to stick these wires and its not working as stand alone then i think you'll have to buy a new one.

Thanks for the reply guys. Im currently downloading anti virus and anti spyware among other things. I'll try doing what you have suggested when I next get the chance to restart my computer.

Thanks for the help guys. Installed the card and attached some of the cables to the back of the CD ROM. Installed the drivers and all seems well now!

Many high-end sound cards such as the X-Fi line can also be connected to the front panel inputs of the case.
