Default Sound Card drivers won't install

Hi,
I'm running Windows XP (service pack unknown) on my Packard Bell laptop. I've just downloaded sound card drivers from the Packard Bell website as they weren't installed when I reinstalled Windows XP, but I get the following error:

"This program requires Windows NT version 5.01.2600 or later"

What's this all about?

Cheers.

Guess you downloaded the wrong ones, give me some details about the drivers you need and I will take a look around for you

I couldn't have, I put my serial number into the Packard Bell search function and my laptop came up with the downloads. I downloaded the drivers from there.
