the speakers have to be plugged in? To make a long story short, my sound worked good on my computer before we took it in to the computer shop to get it fixed. Now, the speakers are unplugged, and all I want to do is listen to music on my headphones(with the headphones plugged into the modem) When I plug my headphones in, I dont get a little sound icon in the corner of the screen. Is this because the computer doesn't have the speakers plugged in?????Please help me because music is essential and all I wanna do is have sound again!!!!!;)

My first suggestion would be to plug the speakers in. If it hasn't worked to have them NOT plugged in, the next logical solution would be to plug them in and see if that works. If that doesn't work, call tech support.

u should connect the head phone into the system not modem. n if u have connected into the system, and still its not working then there maybe some prob with the headphone or the sound driver is not working properly.

Sounds like it !! (No pun intended) Take it back to the shop you had it serviced at and get them to rectify it free of charge its got to be their obligation if it was working beforehand

You actually do need the speakers plugged in if you actually want to hear the music or any kind of audio.

Your headphones should be plugged into your sound card, not your modem. Unless you have a really old computer, either the green or black port will work. If that doesn't work then your sound might be muted, so go to your control panel under the "sounds" section. If none of that works, then its probably a more complicated problem like an uninstalled driver or the like.
