In a way I know why I have no sound but do not remember how to reload in MS-Dos. Here is what I did and what is now happening. After wiping everything from my hard drive and repartition it that is when I found I had no sound . So I have done many things from reloading the drivers to running the SFC and still no sound. That is when I started thinking that each time in the past I used this upgrade xp disk I had to go back in and run the windows 98 disk to show an upgrade was needed. Well this time I forgot about it and instead of loading the os under the Fat32 I loaded XPSP2 under the ntfs. And this time I used the windows 95 disk do to the 98 had problems with dll files. So now I need to find a way to go back into the 95 disk to make the changes that are needed.
When I run the 95 disk I am told that it can only be ran under the NTFS but can be ran in MS-DOS and I just can not remember how I did that.

Wouldn't it be less hassle to get a new sound card for a few dollas?

In going back through my old text books I see that there is a way that it can be done will take some time , but one dose not learn anything by purching a new sound card.
The MS-DOS can be downloaded to a flash drive and then loaded to the ntfs file. Will let you know how I made out . But thanks Spencer2004 for sound card idea.

Found that the windows 95 that i first used to load the upgrade XpSP2 had the same program on the windows 98 but it is the ME disk that dose not load for me, to get this disk to load and to have all the programs I need to be moved over there are some steps you need to do. Place windows 98 in the computer if it aoto starts just click out of it. now to start this you click my computer then were your disk player icon is click that and then click on propeaties. Then click on the tab at the top of the page compatibility when that page opens click on run program in (my case it only goes to windows 2000) then click on apply and click ok. Now to run the program so the sound file loads you need to do this in MS-DOS . Why do to there will be no data lost. My problem now is I do not remember how to get into MS-DOS.

The repair console on a windows disk might work the same as DOS.

All that was needed was Run cmd . So now that I have found what I was looking for all I need to do is once in dos type convert C:\WINDOWS\Systems32\drivers\cmuda.sys and I should have my sound back.
The problem is the age of this pc and some drivers were placed on the 95 , 98 and ME disk this is what I was missing.
As for the new systems I will not try them .

If you successfully get to a MS-DOS prompt and would like to prevent the computer from loading the program that is preventing you from getting to a MS-DOS prompt, or if you would like to fix possible error messages you may be receiving when booting the computer, edit the autoexec.bat or the config.sys files.

After many time of trying to find the answer I looked in to an old book that first came with the PC. Then checked the wires for sound and video and found that they were crossed. After placing them in the right ports I still had not sound then checked the book once more and found that 95,98,ME and NT all have there own way of keeping files safe in a crash. The suond files are locked. Once unlocked I have sound.
