LOL I think I remember now why they booted me from that other website, I just don't suffer fools. You should take that as a compliment Carbon, I think you are far from a fool and I notice YOU had nothing to say about my advise, only about my telling someone they were full of the excrement from a rather large, and overly flatulent horse. Sorry there I guess but as I said before, I have a rather low tolerance for fools.

ok.. Well first i really hope i do not P'O anyone..

Bubba.. Those Links give me a error when installing that says ...

"Realtek AC97 Audio has not passed Windows Logo Testing to Verify its Compatibility with Windows XP.
Warning!!
Microsoft strongly recommends you only use device drivers with the Designed for Microsoft Windows XP logo. Installing device drivers that have not been digitally-signed by Microsoft may disable the system, allow viruses onto your computer, or otherwise impair the correct operation of your computer either immediately or in the future. "

And the link i got from Phil says its Windows 2000 Drivers, i have XP would it still work? going to try

Bubba, check your PMs. I'm not going to alienate the OP further by carrying this on in the thread.

Bigmarkc, don't mind the drama and give these a go. Don't mind the signed driver bit, go ahead and run it anyway. The board is OEM and specific to that model, so searching by board won't return anything. Someone tracked down all the drivers, though, you can find the chipset and ethernet ones here as well.

edit: oops, in my haste just realized philthomas linked the same ones with nearly the same post :D. welp, have you tried searching your laptop model on Sony's site? if the ones linked above don't work, that seems to be the only option besides calling Sony and demanding they send you a CD with them on there or something.

WOW !! .... what on earth prompted that little outburst ? .... I would take a wild guess that Bubba has been on the receiving end of some good old British humour, at some point and couldn't understand it which has left him with 'Brit hate'

Anyway .... this is a friendly forum m8y and flaming or insults are not necessary, to get your point over, they will only get you disliked, maybe even banned, so cool it.

Everyone here is entitled to their opinion and generally speaking the advice given is pretty useful. In this case, it seems none of the advice offered was helpful (including yours), but dont be disheartened .... put it down to experience and chin up old boy .......... Anyway ... back to topic :

@ bigmarkc ....... does this box have a Make/Model Name or No. ? ... is it branded Sony Vaio ... Desktop or Laptop ?

Well the motherboard is definitely a Sony OEM board, so the audio drivers you need will relate to this. -- Try this page and see if you can identify it.

Update :

OK a bit more legwork and this website reveals your mobo ID 63-0500-000001-00101111-102904-SPDALE_G$MOHR2026 was used in both the Sony PCV-RS400CGP Model and the PCV-RS421V models.

On the Sony support website, there are no audio drivers for the PCV-RS400CGP, but there is an Audio(sound) driver for the PCV-RS421V here its (11 from bottom).

It shows as an ADI Soundmax driver, but if this looks like your box, it's worth a try

If all else fails a cheap PCI Card like this one will be an improvement over most on board devices.
