Default Speaker problem

I was trying to get my speakers to work and did something that I do not know how to undo. I have an HP computer and Microsoft Vista. When I go to the control panel and select "Sound", and then click the "Play Back" tab, it no longer lists "speakers" there. It did, but I accidently clicked "disable" and they disappeared. Now, the only thing listed there is "realtek digital output". Is there a way of getting this back because I don't know how I can get my speakers to work without it.

Thanks!

dave can you delete my ranting post?

with the spammers gone i look crazy

to system restore, i find it easier to open the start menu type in system restore in the search bar, open sys restore, then choose an appropriate date (closets, but before the problem started)

any files or changes made after this date however will be lost so back them up
