Hey

Lately I've been getting this static kind of screechy sound coming through whenever I play music with Windows Media Player. The higher the notes the louder and stronger this static-like sound becomes. Having said that, music that isn't high pitched plays perfectly fine.

this annoying sound comes through via my Logitech speakers (that are roughly 2 weeks old -- along with PC being 2 wks old), my Logitech headphones (that is about a year old), and my Bang & Olufson earphones, (which are about 4-5 wks old).
I don't know whether it's Windows Media Player, or worse, my soundcard. =| I can't think of what else it could be.

I hope you're able to assist me on this problem, I can barely stand to listen to most of my songs in my playlist because of this.

Firstly, (I don't know if you have already) could you try playing a particularly high song in a different player (eg. iTunes, or whatever else you have)

If you don't already have one I would reccomend you first downloaded something like iTunes (for free)

To see if it's a problem with WMP codec or something..

If its still a problem we can look further.. but hopefully its simple :D

Hey, I took your advice, but instead I downloaded J. River Media Jukebox and I listened to the songs that I heard the static noises from most, and they weren't there.
Hopefully it stayst that way, but I guess it must have been a codec problem from WMP..?

Thanks for the help, greatly appreciated. I hope I don't have to come back with this problem again, because I really love listening to music too much! :3

No problem, if you still want to run WMP the easiest way would be to uninstall it and download the latest version (which would come with any driver updates etc.) from the microsoft site.
