Im looking to upgrade from my current stereo setup to a surround sound, how does this one look? Im planning to set them up correctly placed around my room to get the full effect.

It's not a case of "you can if you want", if you don't have the center speaker directly above the screen, front stereo either side, and rear stereo either side behind you - it is not surround sound, nor would it sound good at all, it would be worse sounding than stereo, because you'd get a really weird mix..

The link doesn't look too bad.. personally though, I hate those 5.1 kits. You're much better off with an AV Reciever, and some good speakers for around (The ones to dish out on are the center and the subwoofer)

I agree with fordy, your best off getting a proper receiver and speakers. This can be more expensive and complicated though! However, you can get exactly the setup you want, sounding exactly the way you want it to...

However, logitech are good, so if you do go down the road of getting a kit, theyre a very good option. Try googling 'Logitech X-540 review' and see what they people say.

The speakers are too small... They have plastic sound. I agree with you both

Try to look for Genius SW-HF 5005 or Logitech G51. I think the Genius ones'd be better than G51.

Have you an integrated audio card or a pci card?

Quite a good link that one, ignore the stuff about specific measurements though, with an AV you can accurately tell it how far away the speakers are and it will adgust the sound accordingly.

Also I would strogly disadvise putting the SubW underneath the TV, as the pictureseems to suggest.

It would be a distracting thing to look at, may well shake the screen, and it's the one speaker that the placement of which does not matter at all.

This is because of the such low frequencies it outputs, a human brain can't "decode" where it came from. (If you can then you either need to adgust the XOver, or you're concentrating way to hard and should watch the bloody movie!)
