hi guys,

my new sub came today and im really excited but i want to ask a few questions its got louds of knobs and switches and i really want to know what they all mean, ive read the instruction manual but i want your say aswell:

PHASE
LF EXTENSION
GAIN
LFE MODE
XOVER FREQ
DIRECT & 80Hz HIPASS

i would leave most of those on default or recommended setting! altering things like you're xover can do permanent damage to the driver!
the only one you should really need to change is the gain, which is another word for volume.
most of the others change the sound itself, by changing the limit of the frequency of sound that is allowed to get to the driver itself. putting the wrong frequencies into the driver can do permanent damage as i said above.

ive just looked at this online, u have this thing in a normal room????? thts a bit meaty for a normal setup surely.

sureley they would not design controls for it, that could break it

depends what the limits are on the controls. it might not do it any damage short term, but long term it wouldnt do the driver much good.
maybe im over reacting a bit, but if its pro sound bit of kit, they usually assume that people know what theyre doing when it comes to settings.

im surprised the instruction manual doesnt explain it in detail tho

you might be right, it all depends on the manufacture and its ways of designing its kit.
