Default What Sound Card

I purchased some Logitec 5.1 surround sound speakers and they need 3 ports for the 3 sound leads......my motherboard ( p5nesli )has only 1 sound port so obviously not getting the full monty.

So i am going to purchase a sound card but do i purchase a 5.1 card or a 7.1 card or would i be wasting my time with the 7.1 when i only have 5.1 speakers??

I do not play games this PC is for work and music.

Thanks

Creative make some decent stuff, they range from £10 to £200 so it would be hard to advise without knowing your budget.

Well Dave my speakers were around £50-£60 so am i right in thinking that purchasing a super dooper card would be over the top for the speakers??

Like i say no games just a bit of music and work.

I suppose to re-phrase part of my question.....would i gain anything from purchasing a 7.1 card or should i stick to a 5.1 card as my speakers are 5.1 speakers and also would 5.1 speakers work with a 7.1 card??
