Hi
I'm running on windows vista and I'm not sure what ive done and when but my sound is permanently muted, my volume icon in the bottom right of my screen is on and if i play something with sound the green line bounces up and down as it should do but i hear nothing, the little speaker icon on the keyboard however shows muted, its red and has a cross symbol next to it as it would do if id turned the volume off with the icon onscreen, normally with sound on as it is on my screen it would be blue.
its been this way since yesterday, its been shut down completely several times but on startup the sound icon on screen is on but on the keyboard is muted.

does anyone have any ideas as to what may have happened and how it can be solved?

what keyboard have you got?

does it have an on screen display on the actually board

how do you know its muted on the board? just cant get my head around that abit sorry

its a HP Pavillion entertainment PC.....the mute button is one of a set of little touch sensitive buttuns running across the top of the keyboard and theyre lit in blue...

thankyou for anyone who read this and thankyou so much mrdaveyk for taking time to reply to me but ive just sorted the problem! been fighting with it all day, nothing, write on a public forum and i sort it, typical! i did system restore and its all fine now, i should have thought of that first before making a fool of myself publicly! hehe
