Default X-Fi Fatal1ty XtremeGamer and Creative Labs GigaWorks S750

Hey guys, I have a Sound Blaster X-Fi Fatal1ty XtremeGamer Sound Card and Creative Labs GigaWorks S750 Speakers. This should be an incredible combination, and when the volume is kept down, it is.

However, as soon as you turn the volume up half way, things start to differ. When playing music, there is a variable amount of choppiness (depending on just how loud the speakers have been set to play). The sound is not distorted, so this confuses me. There really is no reason for this to happen, I have tried to fix this issue in numerous ways (to no avail).

Although in my case this applies even without having the surround setting settings enabled, even though I can play music louder without surround sound settings enabled before it becomes a problem again.

Anyone have any idea why and what I can do about it?

I have tried the latest Windows Vista drivers for this card and installed the latest version of Creative's Audio Console, but still this is an issue.

They're not that bigger speakers.. it's possible the vibration when you turn it up is just to muchand they can't take it?

That's not possible, it hasn't got anything to do with vibrations, it seems to happen mostly when certain pitches of sounds are played. Like sudden snaps from a snare drum or when playing a movie, when a door gets smashed/kicked down.

Also happens when people are screaming in films.

Your sure you've connected the surround set onto the soundcard instead of the standars soundcard on the motherboard Might be a stupid question but it coud be your problem.

If that's just ok then try to download the drivers of your Soundcard. I mean the recent drivers. You can find them here. Download drivers

Sorry you've already done that part

Install them and look what happens.

Apart from that I got to say that the Xtreme gamer sound card isnt really the best of the best. I got the soundcard to. But I mainly use it for improved frames per seconds in games since the audio processor in a soundcard processes the audio. while on a integrated sound card the cpu processes the sounds. The surround set is good btw. But Even if you might solve the issues you're experiencing right now you will still not get the top sound quality you were possibly hoping for.

Come on buddy, you really think I hadn't checked that out first?

Seeing as I installed the Sound card as I built the system, I should know which jacks connect to the soundcard rather than oboard sound.

Besides, my onboard sound supports 7.1 speakers also.

However, I have tried the original drivers and the latest drivers and it made no difference to the problem.

l just want to resolve the issues I am currently experiencing.

I don't mean to patronise you but this could be explained if wrong speaker jacks are plugged into wrong sockets? So they're trying to play the wrong frequency to what their range is capable of.

Oh.. sorry! I must have slept it off completely.. but my only thought is that i remember having a similar problem with a Pioneer SA-408 amplifier, where i had a TV plugged into it, it made sounds like you describe, but i solved this by plugging it into the Tuner channel instead of Phono, which I now know is more for record decks.. but I can't think how that mirrors into your situation..

Just thought i'd mention it incase something pops into your mind..
