Oh.. sorry! I must have slept it off completely.. but my only thought is that i remember having a similar problem with a Pioneer SA-408 amplifier, where i had a TV plugged into it, it made sounds like you describe, but i solved this by plugging it into the Tuner channel instead of Phono, which I now know is more for record decks.. but I can't think how that mirrors into your situation..

Just thought i'd mention it incase something pops into your mind..

heyyy

i remeber i had this sorta problem with a laptop plugged into a PA mixer....

we found that if u add a 'Ground Loop Isolator' inbetween the pc and the mixer, it went away..

in your case it would be between the pc and your speakers/amp etc..

Well I need no sleep for this one lol. Check out post #19 on the following thread, then check out post #21 on the same thread so that my statement after the link makes sense:

Since I haven't had time yet maybe you can do the homework for me. Check out the forums on Creative's website and see if they have decided to make the Xtreme series of cards work with Vista yet (after what, 2 years?). One of the things they were refusing to fix was making their cards work with Vista while using either 5.1 or 7.1 surround. I am still going to do some more leg work onb this, but from your post I am doubting that Creative has made any demonstrable strides towards releasing drivers that work with Vista, especially Vista64.

The original poster started this over a year ago, i'd imagine it's probably not an issue for them anymore.

Sure thing, you don't happen to have any ideas regarding this issue?

Not come across it specifically, but I would put it down to drivers and/or effects.

The sound software normally has options for things like, reverb, 3d effect, surround sound etc. Turn them off and get the latest drivers via the SB website.
