How long is average for an mp3 player? Mine is still usable, but pretty broken down, after a year and a few months (I got it at xmas a year ago) and I want to know if I should be weary of getting another of the same kind, or if I should expect any mp3 player to last about a year. (the warranty was a year)

I've had my iPod for 2 years and it's still going strong. It really depends on what measures you go to, to protect your mp3 player. Unfortunatly, some mp3 players won't last as long becuase of hardware issues or they're not well taken care of.

You can do a lot to extend the life of your MP3 player. You can get those cases that prevent scratching. You can make sure to use the battery responsibly (charge completely and use fully, don't partially charge or charge when not needed). Using care, and your MP3 player will last quite some time...
