Is 54mbs a good speed for a laptop or should it be higher if so what?
My mate says it's good but it is really slow at times. |

I'm guessing that you mean the wireless speed rather than the broadband speed. 54mbps is pretty standard for wi-fi. If you're just browsing the web, then it's higher than most current broadband services anyway so browsing should be fine. mbps is the speed of the data that is transferred per second. If you're going to be sending/receiving larger file sizes, then higher speeds are better whilst lower is OK for browsing the web.

Hi, dear friend, 54 mbps is really a very high speed, if it remain constant. i.e., If you downloading someing at speed of 200 mb but latter it goes down to 20 mb and takes enough time. But on the other side you have 54 mbps constant you get it early. All I want to say that it doesn't matter, the matter only constant speed

You can put it this way (and i think you are talking about the wireless reciever)theres no need to get a super-powered reciever if you dont have a super powered internet connection , 54k will work 100% fine for a normal wireless internet connection and oif you havent got a super powered internet connection there is no need to get any higherconclusion:should (and probably will) be fine

You can get 108mbps for a small hardware upgrade, i don't really know if it'll be worth it though.
