I've recently bought a new laptop, an Acer Aspire 3690.
I upgraded trhe RAM a couple of weeks ago to 1GB
Last night i was working on my comp, and all of a sudden it turned off, as if the battery had cut out (which i knew was not possible as it was plugged in)
However, whenever it is plugged in, it powers up by itself (i can hear it working) however the screen remains black, only the power light comes on, and the HDD isn't functioning (as there is an HDD light, asnd this isn't coming on).

Does anybody know what could be wrong? and what do i do to resolve the problem? It's only 5 months old (bought at the end of August) and i havent had any major problems before.
Also, the DVD drive won't open, and when only the battery is in, it only works when the power button is help on.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

If it is only 5 months old it will still be under warranty, opening it up could void your warranty, if I was you I would take it back from where your brought it and get them to fix it (which will be free under the warranty)
