Hi,

I really hope someone can help me, this site has been recommended to me by someone on Answerbank-
I am usless with computers, my boyfriend has done something to my laptop that he won't admit he cannot fix.
It will not play dvd's anymore, My computer shows the drive woth a red circle around it and a line through. But when you look at properties it says it is working! Someone on Answerbank advised me to remove the Acer E lock program which i have done but still no joy.

PLEASE HELP! And be gentle am not very technological!

Thanks xx

Try this, go to Start, control panel, system, hardware, device manager..Click on DVD/CD-ROM drives
Right click on the drive and select uninstall
Then reboot your computer, windows will then automatically detect new hardware and hopefully it will work then

EDIT: assuming you are using XP

I think my boyfriend did one? am not 100% sure though, I suppose it would be more helpful if I waited till he was here to answer the questions I can't.

What is best to do? Repost later? Or do i just write on this post again?

Sorry for my stupidity
