Default Acer Laptop Start Up Problems

Hi there,

I am using a Acer Aspire 5002WLMi laptop. I've had this problem for a while now, I've looked online trying to find a solution but haven't had the luck.

My problem is, when I press the power button it starts up fine but when it gets to the desktop sometimes it wont load any further. It does not bring up all the icons in the notification area.

When this happens it doesn't matter how many times you click on other icons nothing happens. I end up forcing a shut down and trying again, sometimes it can take up to 3 attempts before it starts properly.

Any ideas?

Clean out the fans under the panels on the bottom.

It is probably overheating.

It could be something trying to run at start up, that is losing its way.

Go to Start/Run type in msconfig and uncheck everything that runs at start up, then reboot.
If the problem is solved, add each start up item back, one at a time and reboot after each, until you identify the culprit.
