just want to know if the site is trustworthy and if it's worth getting an acer or if they are not good.

if anyone knows then just a "yes the site is legit and they're ok" would be great

Acer build anything from low end crap to high end (ferrari series) lappys.

Build quality on the lower tier stuff is sadly lacking but the spec's for your buck tend to be very good across the range.

Yes, it's a legit site. There's an offshoot of the site you quote called laptopsdirect, they're a main dealer for Acer but do carry other brands. Worth checking them out as well as sometimes they have some awesome deals. But customer service can be sadly lacking there.

For the money it's a very good deal. 4mb cache 2ghz core 2, 2gb ram, new integrated graphics chipset (quite powerful for an integrated solution). Yeah, if I was in the £500-budget market for a lappy I'd certainly consider it.

Ignore the 4hr battery life though, think around half that and you won't go wrong.

Happy New Year to you too.

If you go for it, consider the £50 warranty deal. It gives you 3 yrs collect & return cover and includes courier fees, which is very good, considering ANY repair on a Laptop would cost you more than that ...... god forbid the cost of a new mobo, if outside warranty.

I have an Acer Aspire, about 2 years old now and it's still going strong, I think they are middle of the road TBH, not the best, but certainly not the worst.

I've just got back from our weekly shop at Tescos and noticed they have this in store for £50 more (£499).

Not suggesting you buy it there, but if you wanted to see it and have a play with it, you can get some 'hands on'
