My friend is looking to get a powerful notebook for gaming and picture editing (don't ask me why! I've tried to persuade him to get a desktop but he won't listen).

He is looking at this Alienware. He has a budget of about £1200.
This one can come with dual SLI 8700Gfx. What is the 8700M card like anyone know. Not exactly a laptop man myself but he is!

Any thoughts/opinions on value for money.

The 8700m is basically just an oc'd 8600GT.

Alienware's screens are rather good at scaling at lower than the native resolution so I shouldn't worry too much about the card not being able to handle the native of 1920x1200.

But, please do advise him to have a look at www.rockdirect.com. Specificially the xtreme. They also include a 3 year warranty as standard.
